Thank you, Marj for making masks for the church! If you are in need of a mask or know someone that is need of one, we have them here! Email
Loretta for pick-up.
Last Sunday again brought joyful and meaningful worship to our sanctuary! It appears that our reservation system is working smoothly (Thank You, Loretta!) and the modified format of Morning Prayer with Holy Eucharist is being well-received. We will continue to use our current model this Sunday - two services, 9am and 10:30am. If you have not already done so, please make a reservation with Loretta no later than 4pm today! A couple of quick comments: We have been closely watching our worship this month to discern what will work long-term and what may not, noticing trends along the way that will help us organize for the future. For example, we have noticed that the 9am service has a higher attendance, actually nearing our capacity, than the later service. Beginning in July, we will begin to consider some changes in our worship format with an eye to establishing a more "permanent" way forward in the coming months. Last, but not least, those who have attended worship this month have, with few exceptions, done an extraordinary job in following the precautionary guidelines and policies - masks, distancing, etc. While active disease has returned to our island, it appears at the present time to be contained. However, as we all know, the future is uncertain and our Bishop and all the various authorities continue to mandate precautions for houses of worship. This week brought us a reminder of the risk; West Virginia alone reported six outbreaks of virus that originated in churches throughout the state. Other states have reported similar experiences. We will therefore continue to show our love for one another by doing everything we can to keep everyone safe!
Loaves and Fishes Task Force
The current pandemic brought many of our parish ministries to a stand-still - choir, formation programs, fellowship hour, etc. The virus precautions, combined with the death of Pat Hillegonds, forced our Loaves and Fishes ministry to suspend feeding those in need in our community. It is now time to envision the future of this ministry, and to do so, the Rector will appoint 5-6 parishioners to serve on a task force to discern the needs, organization and operation that will be necessary to renew this important ministry of our faith community. If you wish to be considered for appointment to this leadership group, please contact Loretta in our Parish Office no later than July 10. Please give this invitation your thought and prayer in the coming days, and if you sense a call to serve, let Loretta know!
