On Friday, February 3th at 7:00 pm, the performance
features Jazz Saxophonist Horace Alexander Young with the Gospel Divas,
four extraordinary female gospel vocalists.
On Saturday, February 4th
at 7:00 pm, the performance features Hawaiian vocalist and
bassist Bruce Hamada with pianist Jim Howard, along with the Hot
Club of Hulaville, a highly acclaimed gypsy jazz band.
Tickets can be bought
via PayPal using your credit
card until February 2 or from the church office.
(The church office is normally open from 9am to 1pm Tuesday through
Friday. During the last two weeks before the Jazz Festival, the
office will be open 9am to 4pm. Only cash or checks are accepted
by the office.) Quantities are limited so please purchase your
tickets early to avoid disappointment. Any remaining tickets will
be available at the door.
The Sunday Jazz Mass at 8 am and 10:30 am features an All –Star Jazz
Band, a twenty four voice choir of Kauai’s finest singers, vocal soloists,
and the Reverend Jimmy D. Hunter. The Jazz
Masses are open to the public and free. (But there will be an offering;
please be generous!) Our Jazz Masses typically attract standing room
only crowds.
Lihue is located on the Hawaiian island of Kauai which is a short
airplane ride from Honolulu, the commercial and transportation hub of
the state. There are frequent inter-island flights from Honolulu.
In addition, Lihue has non-stop service from a number of mainland
cities on Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, United
Airlines, US Air and seasonally on WestJet. The airport code for Lihue is LIH.
Many major
hotel chains are represented on Kauai.
